VICTORIA TEMPLETON was a native San Franciscan and long time California resident. She was exposed to many forms of creative art, always drawing and painting. She majored in acting at Loyola Marymount University and loved costume design. For over 20 years, she worked in the fashion industry. In the 1990s, she reconnected with studio painting, and it evolved into her life passion. In 2000, she studied with Roger Armstrong, a master painter and founder of the Laguna College of Art and Design. From Roger, Victoria learned boldness and risk. "It's only paint and paper" he told her. Roger exposed her to plein air and many approaches to out door painting. When he died in 2007, the Irvine Fine Arts Center asked Victoria to continue his class. She discovered another ardor - teaching. Her approach, like her mentor, encouraged students to lose fear, take risks and view painting as a process.     Later in 2015, Victoria and her husband, Bob, retired to Barnstable, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. She put teaching aside, and focused on building a body of new artwork.

She is a continuous participant in the CCAC plein air group and contributed to their second 2019 edition of Plain Air Painting on Cape Cod. She has been in several Cape Cod shows and received recognition for her work. "Child-like curiosity and play remain the most important parts of my work. When I trust creative energy and stop critic chatter, my paintings reflect the authentic relationship I forged with the subject or landscape. I paint is all mediums using what feels best for me that day. It's only paint and paper".

WENDY CHRISTERN is a mixed-media artist who combines painting, printmaking, collage, drawing and sculptural elements in her pieces which are usually abstract in nature.

Born in Asheville, NC to itinerant parents, she grew up in Queens, NYC and western in Massachusetts. Wendy grew up watching her mother's play rehearsals, observing set designers work, listening to musical scores and listening to her father sing along to records. All of this early exposure to color, drama and music, combined with living in both city and rural environments had a huge influence on her artwork.

When I create art, I try to let it plan itself as much as possible, without too much editing. I find it fascinating to see what flows naturally from my unconscious. The results are often a unique and happy surprise

KATHLEEN FOWLER

Following a long career in law and time devoted to my family, I returned to my passion for painting through classes with Sam Feinstein in the Whig Street barn.
After Sam passed away in 2003, a dedicated group of his students continued to create and critique together. Our search for a permanent creative home led us to the Old Schoolhouse, where we were among the very first artist tenants. I originally shared the south-facing ground floor studio with Bill Lord, Ed Skyler, and Louise Lane. Bill and I have been developing our art and building a community in this historic building ever since. In a wonderful turn of events, we have come full circle and are back painting in that same sunlit south studio.

RICHARD NEAL was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Maryland. He earned a Masters Degree at the Cranbrook Academy of Arts, and has maintained a studio at the Old Schoolhouse in Barnstable since 2008.

His work was  featured in a three-city tour of Cuba in 2019. In 2024, his work was the subject of a one-person exhibit at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. A site-specific sculpture is on view through 2027 on the grounds of the Art Complex at Duxbury for the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The writer, Andrea Van Der Mende has observed that "Neal is a master at creating distressed surfaces full of invention and the unexpected, tough and confrontational in their manufacture and effect."

MARY MOQUIN is a visual artist and educator whose work explores stillness, endurance, and the quiet presence of being.Holding an MFA in painting, she creates large-scale works that use the motifs of houses and forests as metaphors for refuge and transformation. Her layered brushwork and nuanced evoke the tension between turbulance and calm, revealing moments of light that feel both fragile and enduring.

Each summer, she retreats to a dune shack on Sandy Neck in Barnstable, Massachusetts where solitude and shifting light deepen her inquiry into impermanence and renewal. In addition to her studio practice, Moquin teaches advanced painting workshops that emphasize emotionalional resonance, color theory, and the pursuit of meaning through form. Her work invites viewers into spaces of contemplation-places where the visible world becomes a mirror for inner stillness.

Bill Lord

BILL LORD  Inspired by the works of Sam Feinstein, Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh, encouraged to paint by my studio mate, Kathleen Fowler, and critiqued by fellow artists Pat Stark Feinstein, Ed Skyler, Louise Lane, Michael Pearson and others, I started my journey into the world of painting in 2005. Within a couple years, the Old Barnstable Schoolhouse was being converted into artists studios and we all jumped at the chance to paint in the historic space. Color is the defining characteristic of my work,  and acrylic paint is my medium of choice. As you can see from my photo, I love to cover the canvass with abstract designs, multi-media creations and impressionistic interpretations of famous works, as well as some recent charcoal sketches from a figure-drawing class at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, where I have served on the Board as Treasurer for most of the past eight years.
